Welcome to the Suomi-National Polar-Orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System Preparatory Project (Suomi-NPP or SNPP) spacecraft status page. SNPP is a joint effort between the National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA) and the NPOESS Integrated Program Office (IPO). NASA renamed NPP in honor of the late Verner E. Suomi, a meteorologist at the University of Wisconsin who is recognized widely as "the father of satellite meteorology."
