On Tuesday, December 6 at approximately 11 a.m.EST (1500 UTC), a planned web system upgrade will be performed. This will result in a brief delay of data on the GOES, SPSD and OSPO web sites for up to two hours. Some data will take longer to recover. Please see the related message, which has additional details, and watch http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/SATS/messages.html for additional information.
MODIS / Aqua NASA L2gen NIR Ocean Color Products
The MODIS/Terra ocean color products are derived by using the NASA L2gen SeaDAS codes based on Near-Infrared (NIR) atmospheric correction algorithm. The products include chlorophyll concentration and remote sensing reflectance at 667 nm over 2 CoastWatch Regions-of-Interest, i.e., Gulf of Mexico (GOM) and Hawaii (HI).
Remote sensing reflectances (Rrs 665, 667 or 670 nm) provide a proxy for the suspended sediments in surface waters. The Rrs anomaly is generated when today's data is compared to the bi-monthly mean. Bi-monthly mean values are averages calculated over 61 days.
