Satellite Source: Sentinel 1A Mode: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV Resolution: 5x20 meter Image Date & Time: 06-17-2018 1022 UTC Confidence: Medium Issue Date: 06-17-2018 Region: Atlantic Ocean Location: 18°51'09" N, 66°48'23" W Coverage Area: 16.52 km^2 Remarks: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The leading end of the segmented anomaly was attached to an object believed to be a ship that appeared to be traveling in the direction of San Juan, PR. The linear anomaly spanned a length of 34.4 nm, had a moderate contrast to the surroundings in portions and a diffuse contrast in others. Winds were from the ESE at 10-15 kts at the time of the image. Uncertainties: Confidence that the anomaly is oil is only Medium given that it both lacked a strong contrast to its surroundings and the trailing sections did not widen with distance.
