Product Anomaly, Correction in the NOAA-18 AVHRR Baseplate Temperature Computation, Issued: January 12, 2010 2020 UTC

Topic:
Correction in the NOAA-18 AVHRR Baseplate Temperature Computation

Date/Time Issued:
12 January 2010, 2020 UTC

Product(s) or Data Impacted:
NOAA-18 AVHRR Baseplate Temperature

Date/Time of Initial Impact:
From launch to 5 January 2010

Date/Time of Expected End:
5 January 2010

Length of Event:
From launch to 5 January 2010

Impacts on Users and Significance:
Minor

User Actions:
None

Details/Specifics of Change:
It was identified that NOAA-18 AVHRR had its temperature conversion coefficients for baseplate set incorrectly in the data processing. This error caused the baseplate temperature to be computed incorrectly. The problem was solved. However, the baseplate temperature, which was reported before 5 January 2010 and stored in CLASS and possible other places, was inaccurate.
