NOAA-14 and 12 Clock Adjustments, 26 July 2002 - Issued: 26 July 2002; 2200 UTC

Topic:
NOAA-14 and 12 Clock Adjustments

Date/Time(UTC) Message Issued:
26 July 2002 2200 UTC

Satellite(s) Involved:
NOAA-14 and 12

Instrument(s) Involved:
All

Product(s) Involved/Affected:
Level 1B files and Clock Drift Files

Date/Time(UTC) of Initial Implementation:
22 July 2002 - NOAA-14
26 July 2002 - NOAA-12

Details/Specifics of Change:
On July 26, SOCC added 3.0 seconds to the NOAA-12 clock on Rev#58178 Wallops
at about 2015Z to correct the clock drift error. The level 1B clock drift
file was updated to reflect the change.

On July 22, the NOAA-14 clock drift file used in updating the level 1B time
codes and found on the Product Systems Branch web site was updated to
reflect a change made by SOCC on July 1. At that time, SOCC switched to
using a more accurate method of measuring the clock offset revealing a
discrepancy of -350 milliseconds. The new clock correction values were
reported in the TBUS bulletin. An update was made on July 22 to account for
this difference in the level 1B process. Imagery examined after the update
demonstrated more accurate results. The first passes processed after this
change were the following:
