NOAA-16 - AMSU-A1 Oscillator Correction Attemp, 26 November 2002 - Issued: 26 November 2002; 1940 UTC

Topic:
Local Oscillator attempt to correct problem

Date/Time(UTC) Message Issued:
26 November 2002; 1940 UTC

Satellite(s) Involved:
NOAA-16

Instrument(s) Involved:
AMSU-A1

Product(s) Involved/Affected:
All data users

Date/Time(UTC) of Initial Implementation:
21 November 2002 1550 UTC

Details/Specifics of Change:
Another attempt will made to stabilize the redundant oscillator on
AMSU-A instrument NOAA-16. Previously a toggle between the primary and
redundant oscillator was attempted and the problem still exists. The
Satellite Operations Control Center will perform another procedure of
three toggles per orbit in order to correct the problem. These multiple
toggles will be performed over three orbits if necessary in order to
correct the problem. If at the end of the third orbit the problem
continues the oscillator will be left in the primary mode in order to
study the redundant situation more thoroughly.

This procedure will commence with the orbit beginning at 175840z,
including orbit 193950z and 213020z if necessary. If you have any
questions on this procedure please contact: Cecil Paris at
cecil.paris@noaa.gov
