Tropical storm activity off US Atlantic coast and south of Japan
have left their mark -- cooler surface SSTs.

In the North Pacific a NE-SW zone of anomalously warm SSTs from the
NWern US Coast to the dateline at 20N continues to provide
sustained anomalies....coral reef bleaching has been reported at
Johnston Island Atoll.

Some areas of the southern Caribbean appear to be close to
bleaching "threshold" SSTs as one of the warmest months is October
and anomalies are approaching +1 deg C.
