Satellite data shows El Nino making its exit

NOAA satellite data show winds are increasing along the 
tropical eastern Pacific; SST anomalies have begun returning 
to more normal levels; coral bleaching potential is finally

  "What's New"   May 20, 1998. Much of the North Pacific 
is now showing below normal SSTs, except for the region 
associated with the Kuroshio Current off Japan, that is 
considerably above normal temperatures for this time in May!
