SATELLITE ANALYSIS AND TRENDS...THE LATEST GOES 15 SATELLITE IMAGERY IS SHOWING MOVEMENT OF HECTOR TO THE WEST WITH THE EYE OF THE STORM PASSING TO THE SOUTH OF THE BIG ISLAND OF HAWAII. AMSU SATELLITE ESTIMATED PW ON THE EDGE OF TWO INCHES WITH HIGHER AMOUNTS ABOUT TO IMPACT HAWAII ISLAND ON THE EASTERN SIDE AS HECTOR MAKES AN APPARENT TRACK TO THE SOUTH OF THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS FROM WEST TO EAST.
THE CENTER OF THE STORM CIRCULATION WAS AT 16.53N 153.76W 14Z USING GOES 15 IR IMG. EXPECT TORRENTIAL RAINFALL ON THE WINDWARD SIDES OF THE ISLAND OF HAWAII. FORCING UP STEEP TERRAIN, CONVECTION WITHIN THE FEEDER BANDS OF THE STORM, ESPECIALLY IN AND ALONG THE NORTHERN BANDS OF THE STORM THAT MAY ALIGN SUCH THAT EXTENDED PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN WITHIN THE BANDS FOCUSED OVER ANY ISLAND MAY RESULT IN HIGH RAINFALL TOTALS WITH EXPECTED FLASH FLOODING SOUTHERN MOST ISLANDS IN THE STATE OF HAWAII.

IN SHORT TERM OUTLOOK...EARLY IN THE OUTLOOK IMPACTS OF HECTOR'S RAINFALL WILL BE EXPERIENCED MOSTLY ON THE BIG ISLAND OF HAWAII. DEEP TROPICAL MOISTURE DRIVEN UP THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF THE BIG ISLAND ON THE WINDWARD SLOPES WHERE CONVECTIVE BANDS OF HEAVIER RAINFALL ALIGN IS WHERE THE GREATEST POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING MAY OCCUR. UPDATES WILL BE PROVIDED AS WITH CHANGES DURING THE EVENT OF HURRICANE HECTOR'S IMPACT ON HAWAII.
