Topic: NOAA-19 SBUV Channel 12 340nm Wavelength Test
Date/Time Issued: September 6, 2018 1830Z
Product(s) or Data Impacted: SBUV Product
Date/Time of Initial Impact: September 6, 2018 1647Z
Impacts on Users and Significance: SBUV products will be impacted
.
Date/Time of Expected End: September 6, 2018 1828Z
Length of Outage: ~1.75 hours
Details/Specifics
of
Change: The NOAA-19 SBUV/2 grating drive
performance
improved significantly since implementing the M-bM-^@M-^\giant stepM-bM-^@M-^]
function daily
starting July 2. Orbital average grating position errors at
Chan. 11 and
Chan. 12 dropped to approximately +1.5 GPOS. In order to
test whether the
instrument has improved sufficiently, channel 12 will be set
to 340nm (GPOS =
-976) for one orbit. This test will provide the original
reflectivity
wavelength for ozone retrieval, and will be run for ~1.75
hours before
returning the SBUV to its original configuration.
