^M ^M ^M ^MThe GOES-17 ABI will execute Best Detector Select (BDS) collects first at the cold time of day, then during the warm time of day.
^MThe first collect will run from 0245 UTC until 0415 UTC on December 19 and result in an outage of ABI data for 1 hour 30 minutes.
^MImmediately following the first collect, ABI data (in Flex Mode) will resume at 0415 UTC and the GOES-17 ABI detectors will be warmed from the nominal ~81K to 90K in preparation for the gain set 3 collect at the warm part of the day at 1500 UTC on December 20. During this period of warming, ABI data will be degraded for approximately 10 hours and 45 minutes.
^MFrom 1500-1630 UTC on December 20, the second collect during the warm time of day will be executed resulting in an outage of ABI data for 1 hour 30 minutes.
^MAt 1630 UTC, ABI data (in Flex Mode) will resume and ABI detectors will be set back to 81K. The ABI will transition to gain set 1 once detector temperatures are under 85K. During this period of cooling, ABI data will be degraded for approximately 2 hours.
^MGOES-17 is not operational, therefore this activity will not be cancelled due to critical weather day declaration.
