Update #1: Due Critical Weather Day (CWD), the IMS Snow Depth Product Correction scheduled for Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 1800 UTC has been rescheduled to occur on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 1800 UTC.

Topic: IMS Snow Depth Product Correction

Date/Time Issued: February 19, 2019 M-B2215 UTC

Product(s) or Data Impacted: M-BIMS Snow Depth GRIB2 product

Date/Time of Initial Impact: March 20, 2019 1800 UTC

Date/Time of Expected End: N/A

Length of Outage: See details below.

Details/Specifics of Change: M-BA correction to the Interactive Multisensor Snow and Ice Mapping System (IMS) M-bM-^@M-^\Snow DepthM-bM-^@M-^] and M-bM-^@M-^\Snow Depth QCM-bM-^@M-^] products will be implemented on March 20, 2019 at 1800 UTC. The change will correct the product units.

The IMS M-bM-^@M-^\Snow DepthM-bM-^@M-^] and M-bM-^@M-^\Snow Depth QCM-bM-^@M-^] are fields within the IMS 4KM GRIB2 snow-products output file. They are pixel maps with resolution and geometry coincident to the IMS snow/ice cover products. M-BM-B

Please Note: The M-bM-^@M-^\Snow DepthM-bM-^@M-^] field will be changed from centimeters to meters, correctly matching its GRIB2 parameter unit.M-B Users should give attention to modify if necessary any hard coded units in software.

The M-bM-^@M-^\Snow Depth QCM-bM-^@M-^] field will range from 0. to 1., with larger values indicating increasing confidence. M-BThis change will fix current output that was incorrectly copying snow depth values.

The M-bM-^@M-^\Snow CoverM-bM-^@M-^] and M-bM-^@M-^\Days-Since-Last-ObservedM-bM-^@M-^] fields will remain unchanged.

The affected product has the following filename and PDA product shortname:

NIC.IMS_snow_v3_YYYYJJJHH_4km.GRIB2.gz M-BM-B NESDIS_IMS-V3_snow_4km

This product algorithm change will be rescheduled in the event of a Critical Weather Day (CWD).
