Update #1: Maneuver is waived-off, as the risk of close approach has dissipated to a low risk and a maneuver is no longer required. Spacecraft and instruments will operate nominally.

Topic: NOAA-20 Risk Mitigation Maneuver (RMM) scheduled for June 19, 2019

Date/Time Issued: June 19, 2019 1852Z

Product(s) or Data Impacted: All NOAA-20 Sensor Data

Date/Time of Initial Impact: Primary, June 19, 2019 1905Z / Secondary, June 20, 2019 0144Z

Date/Time of Expected End: Primary, June 19, 2019 2112Z / Secondary, June 20, 2019 0351Z

Length of Outage: See Details.

Details/Specifics of Change: On June 19, 2019 at 19:31Z, NOAA-20 (JPSS-1) will perform a propulsive collision Risk Mitigation Maneuver (RMM)to mitigate a close approach with orbital debris. If the maneuver can not be executed during the primary opportunity, a contingency maneuver opportunity is planned for June 20, 2019 at 02:10z. Only one maneuver will be executed. This activity is subject to change based on changes to the close approach risk.

The following observatory systems will be affected on June 19/20, 2019. The times below are as planned, but actual on-orbit execution times may be offset by a few seconds.

Primary Burn Times, June 19 2019:

19:05:00Z M-bM-^@M-^S 21:12:02Z M-B CERES in Contam-Safe mode, science data will not be available
19:15:00Z M-bM-^@M-^S 19:41:02Z M-B M-BOMPS in Decon mode, Science data will not be available
19:20:02Z M-bM-^@M-^S 19:43:02Z M-BHRD will be off, data for direct broadcast users will be unavailable
19:31:00z Thruster firing, NOAA-20 will remain in Mission Point, however, there may be thruster firing induced attitude errors for a few minutes after thruster firing. Any collected data during that time period may be impacted and not disseminated.

Secondary Burn Times, June 20 2019:

01:44:00Z M-bM-^@M-^S 03:51:02Z M-B CERES in Contam-Safe mode, science data will not be available
01:55:00Z M-bM-^@M-^S 02:20:02Z M-B M-BOMPS in Decon mode, Science data will not be available
01:59:02Z M-bM-^@M-^S 02:22:02Z M-BHRD will be off, data for direct broadcast users will be unavailable
02:10:00z Thruster firing, NOAA-20 will remain in Mission Point, however, there may be thruster firing induced attitude errors for a few minutes after thruster firing. Any collected data during that time period may be impacted and not disseminated.
