NESDIS will commence operational production and distribution of a GHRSST L3U SST product from AVHHR using the Advanced Clear-Sky Processor for Oceans (ACSPO) application. M-B
The L3U data are in 10-minute granules and are produced at a 0.02 degree grid spacing (roughly 2km).M-B Only Metop-A and Metop-B 1km (FRAC) data will be processed at this time.
The L3U files are ~x10 smaller in data volume than the L2P data and may be especially useful for modelers for whom the 1km data may not be needed and/or overwhelming.M-B L3U data volume is only roughly 0.7GB/day per satellite, compared to ~7.5GB/day for L2P.M-B
The data are available on the NESDIS Product Distribution and Access (PDA) system.M-B To subscribe to the ACSPO AVHRR GHRSST L3U product, please contactM-Bnesdis.data.access@noaa.govM-BM-Bor, if you are already an account holder on the PDA, sign up for a subscription using the PDA portal.
The PDA catalog short name is:
ACSPO_GHRSST_L3U_SST_AVHRR_FRAC M-B
The file names will look like these sample file names:
Metop-A

Where:
AVHRRF = AVHRR FRAC
MA = Metop-A
