Products
Date/Time of Initial Impact: January 18, 2019 1700 UTC
Date/Time of Expected End: January 31, 2019 1700 UTC
Length of Event: 14 days
Details/Specifics of
Change: From January 21 - 28, 2019,
EUMETSAT plans to perform a decontamination of the Meteosat-11
(Prime satellite; 0 degrees longitude) SEVIRI instrument.
Meteosat-11 data will be interrupted during this time period
and Meteosat-9 data will be disseminated as a backup data
source to the 0 degree mission. Meteosat-9 data will be
available from EUMETSAT through 0900 UTC, February 4, 2019.
Since EUMETSAT's
switch to Meteosat-9 will occur at 0900 UTC on a U.S. federal
holiday, January 21, NOAA/NESDIS plans to switch its McIDAS
operations to only Meteosat-9 data distribution (no
Meteosat-11 data) effective 1700 UTC, January 18, 2019. The
switch to exclusive Meteosat-9 data distribution at
NOAA/NESDIS should not impact NOAA McIDAS users unless your
data processing precisely keys on "Meteosat-11" or SSID "354."
Please
inform NOAA if this would cause any issues for you at the
time of the switch at 1700 UTC, January 18, 2019.
