Update #2Due to Critical Weather Day,PDA terminating distribution of IDPS S-NPP EDRs (Phase 1) will be postponed to December 19, 2018.

Update #1 PDA distribution of IDPS S-NPP EDRs will be terminated in phases. The first Phase will occur on December 18, 2018, when PDA will stop distributing the first set of products which users have identified no need for, no impact if discontinued, or there are no users subscribe to the product. OSPO will continue working with users to transition off the rest of the products. Here is the list of products in the first Phase to be terminated from PDA on December 18, 2018:

Topic: Terminate distribution of IDPS SNPP EDRs (other than VIIRS Imagery EDRs) from PDA on or before December 31, 2018

Date/Time Issued: March 19, 2019 1528Z

Product(s) or Data Impacted: See a list of products at http://satepsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/product/nde/IDPS_EDRs.pdf

Date/Time of Initial Impact: December 18, 2018

Date/Time of Expected End: N/A

Length of Event: N/A

Details/Specifics of Change:

The processing of all JPSS Environmental Data Records (EDRs) (other than the VIIRS Imagery EDRs) has been reallocated from the Interface Data Processing Segment (IDPS) to NDE.

Most of the NDE replacement products, known as Enterprise EDRs, are now operational, including VIIRS cloud, aerosol, volcanic ash, cryosphere, Sea Surface Temperature, Active Fires,Surface Reflectance, vegetation indices, CrIS/ATMS Soundings (NUCAPS), ATMS MiRS soundings and imagery, OMPS Nadir Profiler and Total Column Ozone, and VIIRS ocean color / chlorophyll (produced in ESPC OKEANOS).

A few additional Enterprise EDR products, such as VIIRS land surface temperature and land surface albedo, will become operational in NDE, and available from PDA in early 2019.

(Please note that the VIIRS Imagery EDRs for bands I1, I2, I3, I4, I5, M1, M4, M9, M14, M15, M16, and DNB/NCC are NOT being retired. These products will remain available from PDA, along with their derived products in NetCDF and other formats.)

The new Enterprise EDR product suite provides continuity of NOAA products between current and future NOAA operational satellites.M-B It also demonstrates NOAAM-bM-^@M-^Ys goal of enterprise solutions by employing the same algorithms for polar-orbiting and geostationary satellites. This brings scientific consistency between the current operational products, GOES-R products, and VIIRS products.

The plan to discontinue the IDPS EDR product suite (except for the VIIRS Imagery EDRs) is in process. Users are advised to switch from IDPS EDRs (other than VIIRS Imagery EDRs) to Enterprise EDR products on or before December 31, 2018.

Users that are currently only subscribed to the IDPS EDRs from PDA (other than the VIIRS Imagery EDRs) should switch to the equivalent Enterprise EDR products. (A crosswalk table linking the two product suites is available to NOAA users at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lJBoleBWmIIoVlLzVgDA0ZEIL15IaKn5y2cz5E55QFI.) Users subscribed to both IDPS and Enterprise EDR products are encouraged to discontinue their subscriptions to IDPS EDRs once they have concluded their evaluation and validation.
