GOES-15 supplemental operations to GOES-17 will be extended to March 2, 2020.M-B After that date, the GOES-15 spacecraft will be placed in standby. GOES-17 will continue operating in the GOES-West role at 137.2 degrees west with all instruments operating nominally. Due to operational impacts from the GOES-17 Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) performance shortfall, NESDIS will return the GOES-15 imager to temporary service during the peak period for Eastern Pacific tropical cyclones, around August 2020. NESDIS and NWS will work to define the specific operational period required. After August 2020, GOES-15 will be returned to on-orbit storage.
