Details/Specifics of Change:

NESDIS plans to discontinue the production of the operational 2km resolution GOES-R Volcanic Ash Detection and Height product. The National Weather Service has not found an operational need for this product and no other NOAA operational user has been identified. Forecasters at the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centers (VAACs) have found it adequate to use a combination of the CIMSS produced VOLCAT product in addition to operational ABI L1b and L2 imagery products (including their RGB visualizations) to track volcanic ash.
