Subject:anomaly
Impact:data-degraded
Detail: Metop-A IASI L2 product quality is degraded since the start of Metop-A IASI Technology Test, involving oversampled measurements, on 16 September 2021 (See related UNS message #7272). The co-registration of IASI with AMSU and MHS is currently not working correctly. To mitigate this, an update to the IASI L2 Product Processing Facility, consisting in switching to a IASI-only production mode, is being prepared. With this update (planned to be implemented in the coming days), the quality of the global IASI L2 data is expected to be recovered but the yield of good atmospheric sounding will be lower than in combined micro-wave + IASI sounding. The quality of the regional IASI L2 data will remain degraded. A solution to fix the co-registration with AMSU and MHS is being investigated and will require more time to implement. [Rev.2] List of products updated. [Rev. 3]: On 23 September 2021 10:01 UTC, the IASI L2 full-sky retrieval was switched to infrared only mode for Metop-A. With this update, the quality of the global Metop-A IASI L2 data has been recovered.
