Topic:  PDA change to mitigate a security finding can break your SFTP communications to PDA.

Date/Time Issued:  November 16, 2021 1325Z

Product(s) or Data Impacted:  Products or Data being transferred via the SFTP protocol.

Date/Time of Initial Impact:  November 16, 2021 1330Z

Date/Time of Expected End: November 16, 2021 1400Z

Length of Event:  30 minutes

Details/Specifics of Change:  The PDA Team will disable the outdated Diffie-Hellman-group1-sha-1 communications protocol used during some SFTP communication due to a security finding. It is difficult for the PDA Team to recognize this type of connectivity issue as the connection attempt is immediately dropped. We ask that SFTP users monitor their data flows and contact the PDA Team via email (PDA_DHS@noaa.gov) during business and we will work with you to confirm the issue and take corrective action, if necessary. As stated earlier we are asking that users check their SFTP data flows and let us know if you suspect a problem.

The PDA Support team thanks you for your support in this matter.
