Currently provided by NESDIS STAR to the user community, the production and distribution of Himawari-8 Level-2 products will be officially transitioned to the NCCF and PDA system effective May 3, 2021. All operational users should access Himawari-8 L2 products from the PDA system by the effective date. NESDIS STAR will continue to generate and distribute Himawari-8 L2 products from its server until June 1, 2021 as a temporary backup to the PDA system.

Please note, only authorized users may access these products from the PDA. For the general public, the Himawari-8 L2 products can be accessed from the NESDIS Big Data Program website: https://noaa-himawari8.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html.

The following Himawari-8 products are officially planned to be transitioned to NCCF production and the PDA system on May 3, 2021:

Please note: This promotion might not be performed during Critical Weather Day (CWD).

Also, the products of this promotion are subject to change based on user readiness, customer feedback, and final management approval.
