The first Copernicus Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich products were released on June 22, 2021 and are now available per subscription on PDA to approved users. The Sentinel-6A products currently available include Low Resolution Near-Real Time (NRT) and Slow-Time Critical (STC) Level 2 products from the Poseidon-4 Altimeter and Advanced Microwave Radiometer (AMR).

The short names are S6-NRT-LR-L2 and S6-STC-LR-L2, and the files are similar to Jason-3 OGDRs and IGDRs, respectively. These data are packaged astar bundles in EUMETSAT “SAFE” format. Each NRT tar file will have two NetCDF files, reduced (RED) and standard (STD), a BUFR file, and an XML manifest. The STC bundle will have the same content, except no BUFR file.

In November/December, the higher-accuracy SAR-processed NRT and STC products are expected to be released.  Sentinel-6A is still in the commissioning phase of its mission as calibration/validation activities are ongoing until late Dec 2021 when the mission is tentatively scheduled to move into routine operations.  Users of these data should utilize this for commissioning/readiness purposes.
