Topic: GOES-18 ABI Lunar Chasing calibration scan

Date/Time Issued: August 08, 2022 1522Z

Product(s) or Data Impacted: GOES-18 ABI outage of MESO 2

Date/Time of Initial Impact: August 13, 2022

Date/Time of Expected End: August 17, 2022

Length of Outage: Anywhere from 10 to 60 minutes

Details/Specifics of Change:

During the first period of GOES-18 and GOES-17 interleave between August 1st and September 6th, ABI Lunar Chasing PLT activities for GOES-18 will be ongoing. GOES-18 Lunar Chasing scans will be performed from Aug 13th to Aug17th. This scan will utilize MESO 2 only to track the moon so during this period there will be a MESO 2 outage meaning the Product Monitoring system will show no images for MESO 2.  MESO 1 will remain available. In the case of a 30 second meso request G18 ABI will revert to alternate MESO scans to perform this calibration for the listed time.

A GOES-18 ABI lunar chasing calibration scan will occur on the listed days during interleave following the schedule below:
