Details/Specifics of Change:

A yaw flip maneuver will be performed on GOES-17 on September 6, 2022 from  2040-2130 UTC. During this period all instruments will experience a data outage. After the maneuver, all instruments and products will resume nominal production and distribution.

 

The total expected duration of instrument outages during this time are as follows:


ABI: 50 min scan outage (20:40 UTC to 21:30 UTC)
SUVI: ~40 min data outage
EXIS: ~40 min data outage
SEISS: ~20 min data outage
GLM: ~50 min outage
MAG: ~20 min data outage


All ABI channels will experience navigation and product quality degradation for a period of time up to 30 minutes due to the Kalman filter reset.  There is no back up date for the yaw flip. It will be conducted during a critical weather day.
