Update #1: The NESDIS Satellite Products and Services Review Board (SPSRB) approved the legacy satellite capabilities for the following products to be retired on October 31, 2022:

EOS Data Retrieval (MODIS) System

MODIS for HMS

MODIS Dust Mask Algorithm

Ozone (OOPS/ROPES) (NOAA-19)

SBUV Version 8 (NOAA-19)

Earth Radiation Budget (NOAA15/18/19 and Metop-B)

Green Vegetation Index (NOAA15/18/19 and Metop-B)

SSM/I(S) EDR/SDR/TDRs Conversion (DMSP 15/17/18)

 

The other products in the table below will be retired at a later date with a further notification.

ESPC plans to terminate the legacy satellite capabilities for the following products by October 30, 2022 (see chart below).  NESDIS will collect user feedback for 30 days following the issuance of this notification.  If you have any concerns, please provide your comments to the corresponding Product Area Leads (PALs) (contact info listed in the table below) and User Services (email: spsd.userservices@noaa.gov) by May 30, 2022.  User feedback will be evaluated by PALs and the NESDIS Satellite Products and Services Review Board (SPSRB) will make a final decision in June.  Please note, the decision to terminate all the MODIS and OMI products by October 30th is final since MODIS and OMI are reaching end of life and resources need to be devoted to support new missions.  An updated user notification will be sent after the SPSRB decision.
