Update #2: Engineering has finished all recovery efforts to return the S-NPP ATMS instrument into a nominal state with science data starting with the observation time of August 31, 2022 at 18:21 UTC. This data will only be available through CLASS and GRAVITE as the initial data set has not been verified by Cal/Val teams. Cal/Val teams will conduct a brief assessment to ensure all components of the data are meeting operational requirements by Thursday September 1, 2022. PDA OPS requests for S-NPP ATMS products will be enabled once this assessment is completed. 


Update #1: Engineering is troubleshooting with vendor support and recovery efforts are now underway. Science data activation is expected no earlier than Wednesday, August 31, 2022. All missed data will not be recoverable. The ATMS instrument on the NOAA-20 Spacecraft will continue to provide all primary ATMS product needs.

Details:  For the NPP contact 56140, AOS at 0900z, a RH ALARM ATSAFEMODE was received. The ATMS instrument is in safe mode.  The Spacecraft Engineers have been contacted. There will be no SMD data from ATMS on NPP until further notice.
