Product or Data Impacted: This notice is informational that the JPSS Common Ground System (CGS) is entering into a JPSS-2 Launch Soft Freeze on 02 September 2022.  There are no impacts to data product operations anticipated; however, changes to the JPSS CGS are curtailed as part of launch readiness for JPSS-2.

Length of the Outage/Event: Event will last for approximately 100 to 120 days

 

Details/Specifics of Change:  Information that the JPSS Common Ground System (CGS) is entering into a JPSS-2 Launch Soft Freeze on 02 September 2022.  There are no impacts to data product operations anticipated; however, changes to the system are curtailed as part of launch readiness for JPSS-2. Pursuant to the 474-01636 JPSS Ground System Freeze Plan, any changes to launch critical systems require soft freeze waivers be approved.

 The following elements will be subject to the soft and hard freeze periods:  I&T string, NSOF B, including Common/IDMZ, CBU, SVL, FCDAS (Fairbanks),  WSC (White Sands),  JSH B,  FVTS Suite (simulators), GLS 5, 8, 9, 10 and JCT/LSS Rack (through launch only, and then no longer subject to freeze)

The NDE/PDA systems that provide JPSS and other data to users will not be subject to the freeze periods and do not require a waiver during these periods.
