Topic: Outage Involving the Shared File System  (system failure)

Date/Time Issued:  December 23, 2022 1746Z

Product(s) or Data Impacted:  All products that use the Shared File System (SFS) for data input or data distribution may be impacted due to a critical mount issue.  See list in
Details section below.

Date/Time of Initial Impact:  December 23, 2022 1630Z

Date/Time of Expected End:  TBD

Length of Outage:  Unknown

Details/Specifics of Change:  The OSPO Shared File System is experiencing a failure that leaves it unable to write new files. Shown below is a detailed listing of products that are affected. We expect that many of these products will be lost; the ability to recover
the missing inputs will be highly variable across different products.

All products that use Shared File System (SFS) for data input or data distribution are
affected.  This includes:

McIDAS products distributed via the GeoDist servers:
geodist1 (DPD, GEICP, and NPT)
geodist4 (M1, M2, MIRS, and PLR)
geodist5 (MOD)
Note that Himawari and Meteosat distribution (geodist6 and 7) are not affected.
