Details/Specifics of Change:

On December 21, 2022, the PR.11.04.00 software update was installed into Operations on the GOES-R Ground System. This build updates the static land mask used by the GOES-R ABI L2+ Product Generation system to include the Hawaiian Islands.

In particular, this update improves the Fire Detection and Characterization (FDC) algorithm which was previously unable to detect Fire activity in Hawaii due to it being set as water in the land mask. With this update in place, the ABI Level 2 Fire product is able to process the Hawaiian Islands and retrieve information on active fires.
