Details/Specifics of Change:

On February 22, 2022 at 1500 UTC through February 25, 2022 at 1500 UTC, a GOES-17 ABI Focal Plane Module (FPM) Set Point Test at 93K will be performed.  The purpose of this test is to mitigate the peak daily FPM temperatures and prepare for future GOES-17 ABI warm periods.  See GOES-17 ABI Saturation Prediction Reference Tools for more background information.

Imagery from bands 8, 10, 12, and 16 will be fully saturated 24 hours per day for the duration of the three day test period.  Bands 9, 11, and 15 will have some hours of saturation or degradation each day (centered around 1330 UTC) and bands 13 and 14 are expected to have little to no degradation.  Bands 1-7 will be nominal and unaffected.

On February 25, 2022 at 1500 UTC the GOES-17 FPM Set Point will step down to 87K and on February 28, 2022 at 1500 UTC the GOES-17 FPM Set Point will return to 84K.

This set point test is independent of the existing GOES-15 supplemental operations plan scheduled for February 22-28, 2022.
