Update #19:  NOAA-19 testing from 13:30 UTC OCT 27, 2023 to 17:58 UTC Oct 30, 2023 will result in data losses due to supporting POES EL (Extended Life) ground system testing.

NOAA-19 Expected Data Loss

Update #18:  NOAA-19 testing from 14:07 UTC OCT 24, 2023 to 18:59 UTC Oct 25, 2023 will result in data losses due to supporting POES EL (Extended Life) ground system testing.

NOAA-19 Expected Data Loss

Update #17: As of October 19 2023, NOAA-18 and NOAA-15 operations have transitioned into the POES Extended Life Ground System of which operates the POES Constellation in a best effort data of opportunity manner, with no data product quality or data delivery latency requirements. Both NOAA-18 and NOAA-15 images have been initially reviewed by NESDIS and appear valid, however data quality assessments remain ongoing. All distributed data may be used at the user's discretion. PDA data distribution is being scheduled for Monday October 23, 2023 at 1600 UTC.

Note: The release of NOAA-19 data is expected in the next few weeks and will be announced in the next update to this notice.

Note: Since October 9th, the NOAA-15 AVHRR Scan Drive Motor is now operating in a degraded manner and all AVHRR Products could incur scan line outages.

Update #16:  On October 10, 2023 at 16:09 UTC during rev 32172 the NOAA-15 satellite will be fully transitioned to Parsons (Command and Control) C2 Commercial Ground Services. This first transition of a POES satellite is an ongoing effort to extend the utility of the legacy POES satellite constellation by extending life through use of a commercial system called Ground Station as a Service (GSaaS) approach.  The data and products from NOAA-15 will not be distributed while data quality evaluations are ongoing - NOAA-15/18 data release is expected no earlier than the mid October 2023.   Direct readout data from NOAA-15 will continue to be made available to those users of that service.

Update #15:  NOAA-19 testing from 16:32 UTC OCT 3, 2023 to 19:53 UTC Oct 4, 2023 will result in data losses due to supporting POES EL (Extended Life) ground system testing.
