Details/Specifics of Change: This afternoon an emergency GOES-R software update will take place between 1830 - 2030 UTC. This update aims to resolve the excessive number of false flashes being seen, particularly for GOES-18 GLM but also to a lesser extent in GOES-16 GLM products, since November 28, 2023. During this timeframe, there will be an outage of approximately 20 minutes for each satellite while the update is taking place. Following the installation of this software, there will be a reduction in the amount of transient GLM detections seen in both the LCFA and FED products.
