Update #12:  NOAA-15 was successfully decommissioned on August 19, 2025 on rev 41828 at 1528 UTC.

Update #11: This is the final reminder that NOAA-15 is scheduled to be decommissioned on August 19, 2025 from 1522 to 1537 UTC. NOAA-19 was passivated on August 13, 2025 Rev 85130 at 1655 UTC.

Update #10: The NOAA-15 Decommissioning is scheduled for August 19, 2025, exact time TBD, due to the emergency decommissioning of NOAA-19 on August 13, 2025 at 1655 UTC

Update #9: The NOAA-15 decommission is delayed to the week of August 18, exact date TBD, due to a NOAA-19 Anomaly.

Update #8: This is the final reminder that NOAA-15 is scheduled to be decommissioned on August 12, 2025 from 1506 to 1520 UTC. NOAA-19 will follow one week later on August 19, 2025.

Update #7:  NOAA has completed End of Life (EOL) testing activities for NOAA-15 and NOAA-19 and will commence the decommission process shortly. These two remaining satellites in the NOAA Polar Operational Environmental Satellites (POES) Constellation are far beyond their primary mission design life. All have incurred subsystem and instrument degradation or failures and have entered a "twilight phase" where failure modes are increasingly likely. As a reminder, NOAA-18 was decommissioned on June 6, 2025 at 1740 UTC due to an unrecoverable failure to the S-Band transmitter. The remaining satellites in the legacy POES constellation will be decommissioned as follows: NOAA-15 on August 12, 2025 and NOAA-19 on August 19, 2025.

Update #6: At 1800 UTC on June 16, 2025, NOAA suspended POES data (NOAA-15 and NOAA-19) to Users. NOAA-18 was decommissioned on June 6, 2025 at 1740 UTC.

NOAA-15 and NOAA-19 will begin End of Life (EOL) testing activities. Operational products delivered from Production Distribution and Access (PDA) are now suspended. Direct Users should make plans to discontinue use of POES data.

Update #5: This is a 3 day reminder for suspension of POES data (NOAA-15 and NOAA-19) to Users after June 16, 2025. NOAA-18 was decommissioned on June 6, 2025 at 1740 UTC.

Update #4: Based on NOAA’s requirement to responsibly manage on-orbit assets, NOAA will commence with decommissioning activities immediately for NOAA-18. The exact date/time of decommission is not yet determined, and is pending completion of pre-decommission processes. Users are advised to discontinue use of all NOAA-18 science products immediately.

Update #3: This is the 2 week reminder for suspension of POES data to Users after June 16, 2025. Please also note that on May 31, 2025, the NOAA-18 STX-4 S-band downlink transmitter experienced an anomaly that resulted in considerable imagery degradation and data drop outs. Users are advised to discontinue use of all NOAA-18 science products immediately.

Update #2: This is the 30 day reminder for Suspension of POES data to Users after June 16, 2025.
