Update #3: Technical restoration of Himawari-9 has been completed, and data acquisition is now possible. However, operational use remains suspended while the investigation and preventive measures are ongoing.

The anomaly was identified as a communication error within the satellite. Imagery from Himawari-8 will continue to be provided until further notice. The timing for switching back to Himawari-9 will be announced later based on the progress of the investigation and preventive measures.

Update #2:
NCCF was able to transition to producing Himawari-8 data fully by 1700Z October 12, 2025. All PDA customers should make sure their subscriptions are enabled to receive the Himawari-8 data.

Update #1: JMA has switched operations to Himawari-8. Visible channels were available from 2300Z 10/11/2025, IR channels were available by 1300Z 10/12/2025. We
are receiving data and transitioning production rules as necessary to process H8 data.
