Satellite Source: MODIS Aqua
Mode: Multispectral
Resolution: 250 meter
Image Date & Time: 04-29-2018 1905 UTC

Confidence: Medium
Issue Date: 04-30-2018

Region: Gulf of Mexico
Location: 28°34'11" N, 91°06'09" W
Coverage Area: 3.61 km^2

Remarks:
Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed
as oil. It appeared white in sunglint, consistent with an oil slick, and
also looked similar to a repeat oil discharge to the east. Dimensions
were 2nmi by 0.5nmi, and the anomaly was removed from natural phenomena
and stood out well relative to its surrounding. Confidence is medium given
that the spatial resolution of the dataset is coarse, and the anomaly
didn't appear to be directly connected to an oil facility, though there
were many nearby.
Uncertainties:
Full spatial extent and potential source could not be identified, possibly
due to coarse pixel resolution.
