Satellite Source: Sentinel 1A
Mode: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV
Resolution: 5x20 meter
Image Date & Time: 05-22-2018 0010 UTC

Confidence: Medium
Issue Date: 05-22-2018

Region: Gulf of Mexico
Location: 29°14'16" N, 91°42'07" W
Coverage Area: 13.69 km^2

Remarks:
Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed
as oil. The anomaly measured about 6.5 NM by 2.4 NM and had mostly well
defined edges. Winds were out of the S at 5-10 KT at the time of the image.
Although there were many oil facilities in the region the anomaly occurred
in an area of current high chlorophyll content. Considering the above
factors, we have MEDIUM confidence in this assessment.

Uncertainties:
Given that current charts show a large amount of biogenic matter in the
area, this anomaly could be vegetation.
