REPORT DATE: 06-13-2018 REPORT TIME: 0530 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 6627 IMAGE DATE: 06-12-2018 IMAGE TIME: 2250 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 5x20 meter LOCATION: 40°24'03" N/72°22'13" W AREA: 0.35 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was oriented in a SW to NE fashion very near a repeat leak point source, the sunken Coimbra Tanker, and extended about 1.25 NM long which was consistent with winds out of the SW at 10 KT at the time of the image. At its widest the anomaly measured about .10 NM. Although the anomaly appeared diffuse relative to its background, the fact that it appeared to originate from a repeat leak allows us to have a HIGH confidence in this assessment. UNCERTAINTIES: There are no uncertainties. ANALYST: LEE For further information on oil spill response and assessment go to: https://response.restoration.noaa.gov/oil-and-chemical-spills/oil-spills
