REPORT DATE: 07-03-2018 REPORT TIME: 1135 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: SOUTHEAST U.S. AREA/BLOCK: South Atlantic 6355 IMAGE DATE: 07-02-2018 IMAGE TIME: 2321 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 5x20 meter LOCATION: 32°38'22" N/79°44'37" W AREA: 11.34 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. Multiple possible sources congregated at the NE portion of the discontinuous slick that lay within an approximate 7 NM by 4 NM footprint. Winds were out of the NE at the time of the image correlating well with the general orientation of the anomaly. Given the above factors we have MEDIUM confidence in this assessment. UNCERTAINTIES: This anomaly could be biogenic material, perhaps associated with fishing/chumming operations.
