REPORT DATE: 07-21-2018 REPORT TIME: 0115 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 7004 IMAGE DATE: 07-20-2018 IMAGE TIME: 1040 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1B MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 5x20 meter LOCATION: 40°06'02" N/69°55'03" W AREA: 5.48 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. This anomaly is believed to be an oil slick that emanated from the repeat souce Wreck 1487. The anomaly stretched approximately 9.22 nm S-W and 0.17 nm in width. The majority of the dark anomaly was distinguishable from natural phenomena within the vicinity. The orientation of the anomaly aligned well with wind data near the time of the image which were coming from the NE-E between 5-10 kts. UNCERTAINTIES: Towards the east end of the anomaly, there was natural oil within the vicinity. This made the full extent of the anomaly unknown.
