REPORT DATE: 08-07-2018 REPORT TIME: 1500 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MOBILE 916 IMAGE DATE: 08-06-2018 IMAGE TIME: 1630 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2B MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 30°05'37" N/87°52'59" W AREA: 0.83 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. It is believed to be an oil slick that emanated from a possible oil facility. The linear anomaly extended approximately 3.63 nm NE to SW and 0.09 nm in width. The anomaly mostly exhibited relatively thicker oil which was the silvery/white portion. The orientation of the anomaly aligned well with both ocean currents, which were moving towards the SE, and winds, which were coming from the E-NE between 5-10 kts, near the time of the image. UNCERTAINTIES: There were three possible oil facilities that this oil anomaly could have emanated from.
