REPORT DATE: 09-18-2018 REPORT TIME: 1800 UTC REGION: ATLANTIC SUB REGION: MID ATLANTIC U.S. AREA/BLOCK: North Atlantic 7004 IMAGE DATE: 09-18-2018 IMAGE TIME: 1041 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1B MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 5x20 meter LOCATION: 40°06'03" N/69°55'02" W AREA: 3.15 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. An oil slick extended 10.9 nm in length, including breaks. The slick is associated with a known repeat leak source and its orientation near the source aligned well with surface winds, which were from the south-southwest at 10-15 kts, resulting in high confidence. UNCERTAINTIES: The slick becomes more diffuse with distance from the source with the exception of the westernmost extent so the full extent is somewhat in question.
