REPORT DATE: 10-12-2018 REPORT TIME: 1030 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: N/A IMAGE DATE: 10-12-2018 IMAGE TIME: 0017 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1B MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) HH RESOLUTION: 5x20 meter LOCATION: 29°44'55" N/94°44'14" W AREA: 0.34 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. It was located approximately 37 nmi E away from Houston, TX. The anomaly extended 2.5 nmi SW away from the point source, and was measured 0.06 nmi wide. It exhibited a dark contrast to its surrounding but some edges are rounded and have lowered contrast toward the end. The direction of the anomaly was very consistent with ocean current models near the time of the image. UNCERTAINTIES: Since the anomaly was connected to a point source, there was no uncertainty.
