REPORT DATE: 11-18-2018 REPORT TIME: 0400 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: WEST DELTA 70 IMAGE DATE: 11-17-2018 IMAGE TIME: 2356 UTC DATA SOURCE: RADARSAT2 MODE: Standard VV RESOLUTION: 25 meter LOCATION: 28°56'52" N/89°49'07" W AREA: 60.45 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly measured 9.5 x 3.8 nmi at its maximum width and appeared diffuse and heavily weathered in satellite imagery. Measured winds in the area at the time of observation were 10 kts and from the east. Modeled ocean surface currents were under 1 kt and towards the north. Confidence was determined to be Medium given the moderate contrast to its surroundings. The anomaly is believed to be associated with NRC#1230654. UNCERTAINTIES: The delineated area of the suspected anomaly is inaccurate given the weathering appearance in satellite imagery and therefore the calculated coverage area is high and misleading.
