REPORT DATE: 11-24-2018 REPORT TIME: 0010 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: N/A IMAGE DATE: 11-23-2018 IMAGE TIME: 1222 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 5x20 meter LOCATION: 29°44'56" N/94°44'17" W AREA: 1.76 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly appeared to originate from a point source and aligned well with the the winds out of the NE at 10-15 KT. Additionally, the 4 NM long by 0.5 NM wide anomaly had very good contrast with its background and had some jagged turns. However, the anomaly was in an area of shallow water near the shore. UNCERTAINTIES: This anomaly could be biogenic matter given the relatively shallow water and its proximity to shore.
