REPORT DATE: 11-28-2018 REPORT TIME: 1632 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: N/A IMAGE DATE: 11-28-2018 IMAGE TIME: 0026 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 5x20 meter LOCATION: 29°36'24" N/94°48'22" W AREA: 3.82 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly measured 3.5 NM in length and approximately 1.0 NM in width, and local winds were out of the south at 0-5kts. Confidence was determined to be medium because the anomaly does not have well defined edges and it does not stand out very well against the ocean background. However it should be noted that there are several oil facilities in the immediate proximity of the anomaly suggesting that it could be related, but winds did not align with the apparent direction of flow and a direct link could not be established. UNCERTAINTIES: A direct link could not be established to the nearby oil facilities and the anomaly did not have a well-defined signature.
