REPORT DATE: 11-30-2018 REPORT TIME: 1330 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: SHIP SHOAL 153 IMAGE DATE: 11-30-2018 IMAGE TIME: 0009 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 5x20 meter LOCATION: 28°42'34" N/91°14'56" W AREA: 0.71 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was approximately 1.19 nm N-S and 0.27 nm in width. The anomaly was not connected to an exact point source. It exhibited a moderate contrast to its homogeneous surroundings. UNCERTAINTIES: There was an oil facility and pipelines that intersected the NE quadrat of the anomaly; either could have been a possible point source. Also, both ocean currents and winds did not align well with the orientation of the anomaly.
