REPORT DATE: 12-18-2018 REPORT TIME: 2100 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: N/A IMAGE DATE: 12-18-2018 IMAGE TIME: 1613 UTC DATA SOURCE: WORLDVIEW2 MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 1.8 meter LOCATION: 29°24'04" N/89°47'00" W AREA: 1.51 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly is associated with NRC report #1232430 and the Lake Washington Wellhead Blowout Hotline. *Please note the colors in the image were distorted due to image enhancements.* The anomaly was scattered into various portions throughout the area. It was approximately 6.24 nm (measured as a whole area) oriented NE-SSW and approximately 0.05 nm in width. The anomaly had low to moderate contrast to its surroundings and exhibited thin oil (light blue colored portions). Winds were coming from the NE between 5-10 kts. near the time of the image which aligned well with the orientation of the anomaly. UNCERTAINTIES: There was uncertainty in the full spatial extent of the oil anomaly. Also, the oil anomaly may have spread into local channels and canals that may have been too small to resolve in this scene.
