REPORT DATE: 12-23-2018 REPORT TIME: 1115 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: N/A IMAGE DATE: 12-23-2018 IMAGE TIME: 0017 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1B MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) HH RESOLUTION: 5x20 meter LOCATION: 29°44'34" N/94°45'18" W AREA: 1.42 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium-High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. An anomaly located in Trinity Bay, TX measured roughly 2.5 nmi in length and appeared to be attached to a point source. Measured winds in the area at the time of observation were 5 kts and from the south. The anomaly allied well with the wind direction. Confidence was determined to be Medium-High given the sharp contrast to background surroundings and the possibility of an associated point source. UNCERTAINTIES: There did appear to be diffuse edges which could be an indication of weathering.
