REPORT DATE: 12-26-2018 REPORT TIME: 1415 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: VIOSCA KNOLL 940 IMAGE DATE: 12-25-2018 IMAGE TIME: 2353 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL1A MODE: Interferometric Wide (IW) VV RESOLUTION: 5x20 meter LOCATION: 29°01'17" N/88°53'29" W AREA: 2.99 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: Medium REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly was approximately 5.62 nm oriented SW-NE and approximately 0.2 nm in width. The anomaly had a moderate contrast to its surroundings. UNCERTAINTIES: It is possible that the anomaly could be associated with the known Destroyed Taylor platform but the point source and full spatial extent of the oil anomaly was unknown due to the cutoff of the image. Both wind and ocean data near the time of the image did not align well with the orientation of the anomaly.
