REPORT DATE: 01-29-2019 REPORT TIME: 0100 UTC REGION: GULF OF MEXICO SUB REGION: N/A AREA/BLOCK: MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20 IMAGE DATE: 01-28-2019 IMAGE TIME: 1635 UTC DATA SOURCE: SENTINEL2A MODE: Multispectral RESOLUTION: 10 meter LOCATION: 28°56'16" N/88°58'14" W AREA: 5.64 square kilometers (Updated 05/26/2020) CONFIDENCE: High REMARKS: Possible oil was observed in satellite imagery. This anomaly is unconfirmed as oil. The anomaly extended 15 NM in long and was 0.2 NM wide at its widest point. It had a faint contrast with its background and exhibited some feathering. In addition, winds out of the NE at 10-15 KT correlated well with its alignment. Finally, the anomaly is connected to a known repeat leak source, the Destroyed Taylor Platform. Considering the above factors, we have HIGH confidence in this assessment. UNCERTAINTIES: There are no uncertainties.
